S&M Contractors Ltd are a groundwork and civil engineering specialist based in the Essex countryside offering a tailored, client focused construction service.

At S&M Contractors we take a genuine interest in our clients and have total commitment to all works regardless of size or value. We aim to work with our clients at tender stage to be proactive in initial discussions, utilising our experienced CAD trained engineers to foresee potential value engineering opportunities, as well as build advice.

We have seen impressive growth to a modest annual turnover of circa £6 million with typical project values ranging from £50k to £2million. We carry out projects for large national contractors to local builders and everything in between.

We believe it is crucial to keep re-investing into our established fleet of owned plant which includes excavators & dumpers of various sizes, serviced with our directly employed in-house fitter.

We currently employ over 40 members of staff and are increasingly proud of our highly skilled and motivated workforce, who operate and undertake contracts in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Kent, London, Norfolk & Suffolk. We employ a fully trained workforce with CSCS and CPCS certification, NRSWQ, Confined Space Entry, SSSTS, SMSTS and IOSH Managing Safely. As a business we are Construction Line, CHAS & SMAS accredited. We believe the health, safety and welfare of all our staff is paramount to the success of our business. We employ an external safety consultant who carries out regular audits to ensure S&M Contractors Ltd maintain the high standards of health & safety on all of our sites.
